摘要:语言作为人类生活的交际工具,本来就是生动活泼,千变万化的。它决不是语音、词汇、语法三要素的机械组合。所以,我们除了平时抓好课堂45分钟教学之外,还应开展一些丰富多彩的课外活动。积极参与课外活动,学生们不仅可以加深巩固理解课堂所学知识,逐步掌握语言知识和技能;更可以扩大知识面,拓宽学生视野,积累丰富的跨文化知识,给他们提供一个生动有趣、形式多样的语言环境,享受学英语的乐趣,达到学以致用的目的,有利于全面提高学生的自身素质,与他人建立良好沟通的桥梁,也是初中学生英语学习中的重要环节。

一、课外活动的必要性
英语课外活动是新课程改革的迫切需要,随着基础教育课程改革 的不断深入,对身处改革一线的英语教师提出了新的要求;教师必须转变教育角色,调整教学策略;还要求具备课程开发能力和整合能力,培养学生探究学习的能力,加强对新技能的学习培训。英语课外活动是英语教学过程的一个有机组成部分,是课堂教学的重要补充,是它的延续和深化。学生的创新精神和实践能力是在丰富多彩的课外活动中实现的,课外活动拓展学生获得知识,应用知识的渠道,拓宽实践活动的空间。
在这样的活动中,学生能接触到更贴近学习实际、贴近生活、贴近时代的信息资源,主动高效地获取知识,还可发挥特长,参与意识也随之不断增强,充分感受到成功的乐趣,体验良好的学习情感,且最大限度展现学习者学习的潜能,交流方式也将由课内活动的单、双向交流,转为多向交流的方式。因此,教师要重视开展各种适合学生语言水平和年龄特点的课外活动。
二、英语课外活动教学的实践与思考
1、设计的活动必须要有可操作性
活动的内容必须符合学生的年龄特点、兴趣需要,活动的要求必须符合学生的认知水平,活动的经费、材料以及实现途径必须在学生可操控的范围内。每一个课外活动都应针对不同班级、不同学生进行具体地设计,每一项活动都应该是学生应该完成而且能够做到的,切忌超越学生的能力要求。
2、英语课外活动的组织要有计划性
在开展活动之前,教师要和本教研组教师、班主任教师和学生进行交流讨论,事先联系好活动地点,使课外活动在和谐愉悦的氛围下开展,达到预期的效果。
3、英语课外活动要具有趣味性
兴趣是求知获益的先导,是同学们学习的动力,是打开知识宝库的金钥匙。英语课外活动不像课堂教学那样要求学生遵循教学计划的统一规定。学生可以根据自己的兴趣和爱好自愿选择。比如,有的学生喜欢英文歌曲,有的喜欢英语电影,有的`喜欢阅读,还有的喜欢戏
剧表演等等。我国古代伟大教育家孔子说:“知之者不如好之者,好之者不如乐之者。”由此可见,课外活动的趣味性可以激发学生强烈的求知欲,充分调动学生学习英语的的积极主动性,达到课堂活动和课外活动的统一。
4、英语课外活动要坚持学生的主体性,教师适当的介入。《英语课程标准》指出:“学生的发展是英语课程的出发点和归宿。
教师在活动中的只要扮演好引导和监督的角色,让学生做活动的主体,充分的调动每个学生的主动性和积极性,发挥学学生的聪明才智,坚持“从学生中来到学生中去”的原则,锻炼学生的自主创新能力。在学生遇到困难、或不能有效开展活动,教师的指导变得非常必要。教师主要在活动组织方法、活动成果表述方式上给予指导,对具体的活动过程不宜介入太多,否则会压抑学生创造性,造成学生的依赖心理。
三、课外活动的形式
英语课外活动的形式是丰富多彩的。教师要根据学生的年龄特点、认知规律、兴趣爱好、以及他们的英语水平,引导学生选择适合他们的课外活动。下面介绍几种形式:
1、组织各种英语竞赛活动
想让别人知道自己的长处,这是正常人的普遍心理,这一点在中学生言行中表现得尤为突出。据此.可以以年级为单位的英语竞赛活动,如英语书法比赛、口语比赛、听力比赛等,这样使他们能在今后的工作和社会交往中能够用英语进行口头和书面信息交流;而且教师
可以在竞赛中指导学生自己总结英语学习的方法和技巧,锻炼口才,胆量及英语交流沟通能力,使学生学的开心、轻松,真正做到寓教于乐,极大地提高学生学习外语的热情。
2、英语电影晚会
观看英语原声电影不仅学生最感兴趣的一种活动,也是给学生创 设英语学习最佳语境的一种手段,可以收到事半功倍的效果。教师可以向学生推荐一些经典的富于教育意义和趣味性的英语原声电影,通过这种形式可以锻炼学生的英语听说能力,了解欧美的国家文化和风土人情。
3、英语写作沙龙
学生有了一定的英语基础后,便有了想把内心想法和看到的事物写出来的冲动,可以成立“英语写作沙龙”,从取材、词句应用等方面指导学生,引导学生充分发挥想象力,发展学生的创造性思维。每学期将优秀的英语小作文组编成英文习作集,有的还向报刊投稿。
4、开设英语角
听说是英语交际能力的组成部分,抓好听说训练,使学生在英语环境中,增强语感。在校园某一地方,在规定的时间里,有教师组织学生谈天说地。可以是老师与学生,也可以是学生与学生之间自由交谈,谈感兴趣的话题。学生从自己的进步中得到鼓舞,积极地投入听说交际,随着语言知识的增加和听说能力的加强,逐步提高说话的水平,这样有利于英语课外活动的顺利开展。
