　　圣诞节的由来

　　圣诞节(Christmas)一词，源于古英文的Cristesmaesse，意思是基.督弥撒。拉丁某宗教徒于AD336年，开始在十二月二十五日记念耶稣的诞生;东正教则以一月六日为圣诞。圣诞节(christmas)是某宗教的一个重要的节日，定于每年12月25日，纪念耶稣基.督的诞生，同时也是普遍庆祝的世俗节日。纪念耶稣诞生的节期与时值仲冬的农节和太阳节这两个非某宗教节日巧合，因此庆祝习俗来源不一。在罗马帝国范围之内，12月17日农神节是寻欢取乐、互相馈赠的日子。12月25日是古伊朗人所崇奉的正义之神密特拉的生日。

　　古罗马人在元旦用青枝绿叶和灯火装饰房屋，并向儿童和穷人赠送礼物。条顿人各部族渗入高卢、不列颠和中欧等地，又带来日耳曼人和克尔特人的宗教仪式。于是，有了团聚欢宴、燃烧大块柴木、品尝大木形糕饼，张挂树枝、陈放枞树、访亲问友、来往馈赠等庆祝活动。象征温暖和长寿的火与灯光，一向是冬季节日庆祝活动中的内容，在某宗教和非某宗教习俗都是如此。常青树象征奋斗生存，自从中世纪以来就与耶稣圣诞节庆祝活动发生联系。由于历法不同，东正教及其他东欧教会的圣诞节日期相当于公历1月6日或7日。

　　圣诞，英文是CHRISTMAS，美国韦氏辞典，认为这个字是由CHRIST+MASS合成的，其意义是“基.督祭典”，而英国牛津辞典亦做相同解释。央格鲁撒克逊语“圣诞”一句，也一样是基.督祭典之意。其它非英语系统国家，如法国、西班牙、意大利等，“圣诞”则有“生日”的意思。至于德国人，称圣诞节为“圣诞季”，但其原文则含有“圣夜”之意。圣诞节是一个普天同庆，人人皆欢乐的日子。世界上每一个国家或民族因为传统习惯的不同，其圣诞节习俗也各有差异。

　　圣诞节的习俗

　　1、圣诞树：圣诞树始于德国，是杉树、松树等常青且呈塔装的树木经砍伐,再加上各种装饰而成的。一般会在树顶放一个五角星或者小天使。树身装饰有各类糖果、点心、彩灯、玩具等，悬挂上或在树下堆满圣诞礼物，圣诞之夜，人们围着圣诞树唱歌跳舞，尽情欢乐。

　　2、圣诞卡：对于远方的亲友，在圣诞节无法团聚,西方人就会制作一张圣诞卡寄给对方，来遥祝圣诞快乐，维持亲情友谊。一般会随圣诞卡寄送家人的合影或家庭成员一年来的成就等家庭新闻。

　　3、圣诞袜：圣诞袜是一对红色的大袜子，用来在圣诞夜睡觉前挂在床边，供圣诞老人在半夜从烟囱里钻进来在里面装满礼物。一般父母会冒充圣诞老人的角色,将礼物塞进小朋友的袜子里。这个传统指的是人们会在圣诞期间在屋子外面放一支点燃的蜡烛。即便在黑暗的屋子，蜡烛也能带来光明，寓意希望。早些年代，也就是基.督徒深受迫.害的时候，他们被禁止布道祷告。因此，基.督徒们在屋外放一支蜡烛，暗示他们仍在心里默默祷告。
